Salman Faris, the Writer is Coming with the Tears

November, 10th 2013, it was about 11.50 pm, when my dream will come in my sleep, I saw the lighting in my phone. Actually, I always choose the silent mode for my phone in order not to disturb my sleep. So, I just can see the lighting without the ringing. I saw Salman Faris, my lecturer and my favorite writer was calling. He was a lecturer in STKIP Hamzanwadi Selong. I liked all of his novels. I saw my phone. I thought whether I answered or no, because it was the sleep time. I ignored it. I tried to do not think it. Once more, I saw my phone was lighting, I said to myself, what’s wrong? Why does he call me in my sleep time? That was my heart question. After my heart asked to myself, I saw my phone was lighting again. This was the third time he called me. So, I answered him.
“Assalamualaikum. Hallo?” I said.
“Wa’alaikumussalam. I need your help. Please come to the crossroad of Paok Motong, I have got accident just now. Please help me!”
It made me shock. Directly, I opened my door, I called my father, and we went to the crossroad. The crossroad is about 100 meters from my house. We picked Mr.Salman up.
In my house, Mr.Salman told us the chronology of the accident that he got. I saw some injured in his body. He said, “This is the first accident I have got. I’m shock! I need to recover myself.” Then he called Mr.Helmi to pick him up.
I imagine if Mr.Salman was a girl, he would cry and the tears were like the rain. My favorite writer was crying, but that was my imagination only.
Some minutes later, Mr.Helmi and his friend came. We talked for some minutes. After that, they permit to came back when I saw the time was 01.10 am. We hoped Mr.Salman got better soon.

Listening Skill __Rugi kalo gak baca___

Mentemen, aku udah baca artikel bagus tentang Listening Skill. Nih aku bagi-bagi, aku copy paste nih, jangan ampe gak dibaca ya....
Selamat membaca!!!

You probably spend more time using your listening skills than any other kind of skill. Like other skills, listening takes practice.

What does it mean to really listen?

Real listening is an active process that has three basic steps.
  1. Hearing. Hearing just means listening enough to catch what the speaker is saying. For example, say you were listening to a report on zebras, and the speaker mentioned that no two are alike. If you can repeat the fact, then you have heard what has been said.
  2. Understanding. The next part of listening happens when you take what you have heard and understand it in your own way. Let's go back to that report on zebras. When you hear that no two are alike, think about what that might mean. You might think, "Maybe this means that the pattern of stripes is different for each zebra."
  3. Judging. After you are sure you understand what the speaker has said, think about whether it makes sense. Do you believe what you have heard? You might think, "How could the stripes to be different for every zebra? But then again, the fingerprints are different for every person. I think this seems believable."

Tips for being a good listener

  1. Give your full attention on the person who is speaking. Don't look out the window or at what else is going on in the room.
  2. Make sure your mind is focused, too. It can be easy to let your mind wander if you think you know what the person is going to say next, but you might be wrong! If you feel your mind wandering, change the position of your body and try to concentrate on the speaker's words.
  3. Let the speaker finish before you begin to talk. Speakers appreciate having the chance to say everything they would like to say without being interrupted. When you interrupt, it looks like you aren't listening, even if you really are.
  4. Let yourself finish listening before you begin to speak! You can't really listen if you are busy thinking about what you want say next.
  5. Listen for main ideas. The main ideas are the most important points the speaker wants to get across. They may be mentioned at the start or end of a talk, and repeated a number of times. Pay special attention to statements that begin with phrases such as "My point is..." or "The thing to remember is..."
  6. Ask questions. If you are not sure you understand what the speaker has said, just ask. It is a good idea to repeat in your own words what the speaker said so that you can be sure your understanding is correct. For example, you might say, "When you said that no two zebras are alike, did you mean that the stripes are different on each one?"
  7. Give feedback. Sit up straight and look directly at the speaker. Now and then, nod to show that you understand. At appropriate points you may also smile, frown, laugh, or be silent. These are all ways to let the speaker know that you are really listening. Remember, you listen with your face as well as your ears!

Thinking fast

Remember: time is on your side! Thoughts move about four times as fast as speech. With practice, while you are listening you will also be able to think about what you are hearing, really understand it, and give feedback to the speaker.

Mengenangmu

Memerah berdarah
Mengering di terpa angin
Menempel pada dedauan kamboja
Akankah engkau terlupa?

Melati semerbak wangikan jasad yang pasi
Pada peti melambai tangis tiada kira
Merah putih berkibar
Nyawamu menjadi bayar
Raga terkapar keluarga tertampar

Demi Indonesia tanah yang kau banggakan
Bambu yang menjadi tombak
Keberanian,ujung yang runcing
Aku hanya bisa mengenang
Pada selaksa do’a
Pada jasa yang tak mampu terbalas,
Pahlawan...

From Book Store to the Hotel (Personal Recount)

Sunday, October, 20th 2013 I went to Mataram with miss Nely, my classmate. The time was 12.00 when we arrived at Mataram. Zahra, Neli’s cousin welcomed us at her boarding house. Unfortunately the rain was falling down, so we delayed to go to Gramedia book store for some minutes. We took rest while waiting for the rain.

After the rain finished, Neli, Zahra, and I went to Gramedia. We bought some books there. But there was no English novel, so I would look for it at Kharisma, Mataram Mall.

At Kharisma, I got the English novel, its title was The Speed of the Dark. While I having fun there, I see the time, it was 4.10 pm, it meant that we might pray first. I called my senior high school friend, her house was not so far from Mataram mall, Karang Bedil no.11 especially.

Some minutes later, we arrived at her house. We surprised when we looked at her house. When I was in Senior High School, her house was not like that. Especially I myself surprised when I saw the gate. That was the big gate. We entered to the yard, it was amazing, the yard was so large. It was like a football field.

Zahra, Neli, and I walked to in front of the door nearby garage. There were three cars there. I wanted to press the bell, but there was no a bell there. So, I said salam. I said it three times until Hana’, the name of my friend opened the door. I embraced her, I was so happy, because we have no met for two years, since I graduated from senior high school in SMA Islam Terpadu Mataram.

We entered to the room, Hana’ asked for us to follow her. We saw the situaition of her house and it took us breath away. There was a gymnastic tool there, and then we passed the large swimming pool and dining room to reach the guest room.

When Hana’ went to kitchen for preparing some foods and water for us, Zahra went to bathroom and Neli asked to me to take a picture for her. After Zahra finished her pray, Neli and I went to bathroom. It was amazing. That was the most beautiful bathroom ever I had seen if I compared with my friends houses. Once more, Neli and Zahra asked for me to take their photo. It made me strange. I was laughing but my tears were falling down. “How pity you are, so am I.” We took photos anywhere.

Finally, when we went home, Zahra said to us, “When we go to the hotel again?” Neli and I were laughing. Then Nely answered, “Let’s go to the hotel next holiday!”

*pengen masukin gambar hotelnya, tapi next time-lah. :) insyaallah.
